Lacrosse Sticks
A lacrosse stick, which is also known as a crosse, is a racket that is long handled. The ball is handled by players with the help of this stick. The stick’s head has a shape that is mostly triangular and it has netting on it, which is used to catch the ball, thrown, carried or shot at the target.
The head of the modern lacrosse stick is made out of plastic and it is placed on a shaft made out of metal. A pocket is formed by leather or nylon strings, which are strung together. The NCAA decides the rules based on which these sticks are built, with certain dimensions. FIL is the body that decides these measurements internationally.
The NCAA says that the stick’s head should have a width between 6 and 10 inches, but the head of the goalie can be up to 10 or 12 inches. The head sidewalls can be up to two inches in height.
The shaft of the lacrosse stick is made with metal that is hollow and the shape is that of an octagon, so that an improved grip is possible. The materials used are titanium, aluminum, alloys or scandium. In some cases, one can also use fiberglass, plastic or wood. The stick’s length is at 40 inches for a player on the offensive, between 52 and 72 inches for a defense man and starting from 40 inches and going up to 72 inches for a goalie.
